MANTA RAY


We love the ocean in all its forms and shades. Also, we care about cleanliness and preserving nature to make the world a better place. For this reason, 2% of our annual proceeds will get donated to a Rescue Manta association in Bali, Indonesia.

Few marine creatures can rival manta rays in beauty, grace, and elegance. Suggestive as never before, they seem to fly in the blue like angels. Although they reach considerable weight and size in the water, they look as light as feathers. Those who got the pleasure and privilege of swimming with a manta ray tell indescribable sensations. Yet, few know what manta rays are.

These are animals belonging to the chordate phylum (Chordata, the same one to which we and all the other vertebrates belong) and to the class Chondrichthyes, what are commonly called "cartilaginous fish". The order is that of Myliobatiformes, the family Myliobatidae.

There are two species of manta rays: the species belonging to the genus Manta. And if until a few years back there was only one species, the giant manta ray (Manta birostris), now scholars distinguish between two species.

There are two known species of manta rays, Manta birostris, and Manta alfredi, with a possible third species yet to be studied. These species belong to the Myliobatiformes order and are distinct from other similar species in the Mobula genus due to certain morphological differences.
